Thousands of Young People Trained to Become Digital 'Champions' Through This Program
Bank Indonesia (BI), together with the Financial Services Authority (OJK), has launched the Center for Digital Innovation Indonesia (PIDI) to train Indonesia’s digital ‘champions’. Deputy Governor of Bank Indonesia Aida S. Budiman said that since the programme began earlier this year, 2,300 proposals have been submitted to PIDI and the figure will continue to grow.
‘The number of those being trained includes 800 proposals, and each team comprises 2-5 people. So around 3,000 individuals are being trained across 187 hours and 22 days,’ Budiman said at the Jogja Financial Festival 2026, on Friday (22 May 2026).
The digital hub is divided into several batches: the first focuses on building visibility for aspiring entrepreneurs. The second batch covers the use of AI and digital maturity.
‘The final batch has 80 teams that become finalists, placed into a sandbox and introduced to investors who want to buy the sandbox. Next year, don’t forget to register with BI, so we can become more digital,’ Budiman said.
For information, PIDI is also part of the regulators’ response to ensure innovations in the financial services sector consistently apply good governance, strong risk management, and optimal consumer protection. As a result, the innovations produced will be not only creative but also relevant and responsible.
All innovations born from PIDI are expected to contribute to the industry, be tested by the market, and have a real impact on Indonesia’s digital financial system. The innovation centre is also hoped to become a growth space for Indonesia’s digital talent, not only to compete but also as a learning platform, for networking, and to test ideas in practice.
