Thousands of Foreign Buyers to Attend TEI 2026, Targeting These Indonesian Products
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - The Ministry of Trade (Kemendag) has revealed that several Indonesian products remain highly sought after by foreign buyers at the Trade Expo Indonesia (TEI). Products ranging from food and beverages such as coffee, tea, and cocoa, to furniture and home decor, are consistently attracting the interest of thousands of international buyers.
The Director General of National Export Development (PEN) at the Ministry of Trade, Fajarini Puntodewi, stated that the Trade Expo Indonesia is an annual event that consistently attracts buyers from various countries.
“This Trade Expo is an annual event of the Ministry of Trade, and we are confident that this Trade Expo is an exhibition in Indonesia that can attract thousands of international buyers,” said Fajarini at the launch of the 41st Trade Expo Indonesia 2026 at the Ministry of Trade Auditorium, Jakarta, Thursday (February 26, 2026).
She emphasized that TEI is not just a ministry agenda, but has become a national event and a major showcase for Indonesian products in the global market.
“Because this is not just an event organized by the Ministry of Trade, but it has become a national event and a source of pride for Indonesia as an event to promote Indonesian products to the global market,” she said.
To strengthen the position of Indonesian products in the eyes of foreign buyers, the Ministry of Trade is promoting the tagline “The Ultimate Hub for Global Sourcing” at the 41st TEI. This tagline reflects the belief that Indonesia can become an important hub for world trade.
“Because we are confident that Indonesia can become an important trading hub and can supply the world with quality products, both manufacturing-based products, agriculture-based products, and technology-based products that are highly competitive, innovative, and of course sustainable,” explained Fajarini.
In terms of organization, the Ministry of Trade is also making several changes to highlight the products that are most in demand by buyers. One of them is through stricter zoning and grouping to make it easier for buyers to find the products they are looking for.
“Then, some of the differences we are making this year are that we are starting to implement stricter zoning and grouping so that we hope this will attract even more buyers,” she said.
For the food and beverage sector, the Ministry of Trade is preparing a special area for commodities that have been the most popular, such as coffee, tea, and cocoa.
“We will gather them together, because coffee is always a special attraction, so it will be quite large,” she said.
In addition to the exhibition, the area will also be filled with various supporting activities aimed at attracting the interest of international buyers.
“Here, it will not only be an expo, but there will also be several attractions such as the Cupping of Excellence and the Indonesian Specialty Coffee Contest (KKSI) to enliven the activities in the Koteka hall (Coffee, Tea, and Cocoa),” said Fajarini.
Furniture and home decor products are also considered a strong magnet for foreign buyers. Therefore, the Ministry of Trade is providing two special halls for this sector.
“Usually, it attracts many international buyers, and of course, we hope that with the presence of more furniture, this will increase real transactions at the trade expo in Indonesia this year,” she said.
In addition to buyers, the Trade Expo Indonesia is also aimed at attracting foreign investors. The Ministry of Trade is preparing a special industrial area hall to introduce investment opportunities in Indonesia.
“So, we will also attract foreign investors to invest more in Indonesia by creating a special hall for industrial areas,” she said.
She added that the interest of international buyers in TEI continues to increase. Last year, the number of foreign buyers who attended even exceeded the officially released figures.
“From last year, we actually attracted quite a lot of international buyers, which, according to the release, was 8,000 (visitors), but in reality, it was more than 8,000,” she said.
The Ministry of Trade hopes that the appeal of Indonesia’s leading products will encourage more exporters and exhibitors to participate in the Trade Expo Indonesia.
“Our hope is that this will also attract our exhibitors and exporters to compete to participate in the Trade Expo Indonesia, because we hope that this will become a national event that Indonesia can be proud of,” she concluded.
