Cimahi City Administration’s free mudik programme registration closed on Saturday, 28 February 2026. The results show that the number of registrants intending to travel home during Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijri has exceeded the allocated quota.

Based on data compiled by the Cimahi City Transport Department, the number of mudik participants who registered online through the designated portal this year reached approximately 1,000 people. However, only around 720 seats were available, allocated across 15 buses.

“If our quota this year is 720 people, but around 1,000 have already registered, it has exceeded our quota,” said Endang, Head of the Cimahi City Transport Department, when confirmed on Sunday, 1 March 2026.

Endang stated that the department is currently verifying registrants so that the list will eventually narrow down to 720 people according to the available seats. Economic conditions and registration number will be considered in the verification process. Each household head (KK) is permitted a maximum of four people.

“We are currently conducting verification, hopefully it will be completed quickly and announced soon. Residency must certainly be in Cimahi, and economic conditions will also be a consideration. We will also order them by who registered first,” said Endang.

The free mudik service from Cimahi City Administration this year will cover routes from Cimahi to Semarang via Cirebon and from Cimahi to Solo via Yogyakarta. The mudik participants are planned to depart on 18 March 2025 from the Cimahi City Administration Office Complex on Jalan Rd. Demang Hardjakusumah.

He further explained that providing transportation facilities for Cimahi residents is aimed at improving services and demonstrating the administration’s concern. The administration aims to reduce the number of residents from Cimahi who typically use two-wheelers or motorcycles for mudik. According to him, mudik by motorcycle carries higher risks.

“Many Cimahi residents travel home to their hometowns using motorcycles, so the Cimahi City Administration is offering free mudik to reduce the use of two-wheeled vehicles for homecoming,” he said.
