Thousand Islands Regent Urges Civil Servants Not to Misuse AI in Duties
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Regent of the Thousand Islands, Muhammad Fadjar Churniawan, has urged all Civil Servants (ASN) not to repeat the mistake made by an official in Kalisari Sub-district, East Jakarta, who misused artificial intelligence (AI) in their duties, harming the public. “We ask ASN to work to the maximum and prevent the misuse of artificial intelligence or AI in carrying out tasks,” said Muhammad Fadjar while attending the Germas Campaign in Jakarta on Thursday. He stated that as ASN, they must work maximally, especially in handling public complaints submitted through the JAKI application. “All complaints must be responded to in a real and direct manner,” he said. He instructed all sub-district heads and village heads to ensure that the management of the JAKI application is carried out accurately and responsibly. According to him, accuracy in managing official communication channels is key to improving the quality of public services. He assessed that public complaints about rubbish, flooding, or anything else should be resolved directly, with no more misuse of AI or mere timestamp reports. In addition, he continued, a preventive approach through direct communication with the public can be taken so that problems can be resolved earlier, before they develop into formal reports. “We must provide the best service to the public in a real way, so that the public is satisfied,” he said. Previously, a social media post went viral showing a PPSU officer using AI technology to respond to a resident’s report regarding illegal parking on Jalan Damai, Kalisari Sub-district, Pasar Rebo Sub-district, East Jakarta. In the post, the PPSU officer wearing an orange uniform was seen handling the situation at the location. However, after an AI-based process, the visual appearance of the officer changed, including differences in clothing attributes and the disappearance of several vehicles in the processed image. The stark differences between the actual conditions and the AI visualisations triggered strong reactions from the public. Netizens viewed the action as a form of data manipulation that does not reflect the actual field conditions.
