This is the Cause of the Jagorawi Toll Flooding Last Night
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Heavy rain that lashed much of South Jakarta caused water pooling at several points. Even toll roads were not spared, such as the Jagorawi toll road.
According to an official statement from Jasa Marga, the pooling occurred from KM 12+800 to KM 12+600 on the Jagorawi toll road towards Jakarta. The water pooling on the road surface was reported to be around 30 cm deep.
The initial steps taken were to ensure traffic conditions remained under control while identifying the cause of the pooling. The presence of officers on the ground also aimed to accelerate technical responses so that the impact of the pooling did not spread.
Senior Manager RO1 JMT Regional Division, Alvin Andituahta Singarimbun, explained that monitoring results showed a significant surge in water volume. This condition was deemed to exceed the capacity of the available drainage channels around the toll road section.
To address the situation, Jasa Marga Tollroad Maintenance officers immediately cleared rubbish from the water channels. This effort was carried out to smooth the water flow and accelerate the process of the pooling receding from the road surface.
In addition to the main lane, the impact of pooling was also felt at the Rest and Service Area (TIP) or rest area at KM 10 on the Jagorawi toll road towards Bogor. Water entering the area caused disruptions to several supporting facilities.
As a result, the clean water pumps at the rest area were damaged and could not be used temporarily.
At the discretion of the police, the rest area at KM 10 towards Bogor was temporarily closed to ensure the safety of road users, before all facilities and equipment returned to normal operation.
