KARAWANG, KOMPAS.com – Congestion on the MBZ Elevated Toll Road became one of the highlights during the peak of the Eid exodus on H-2 Lebaran 2026, or on Thursday (19/3/2026).

The elevated toll road section, which should help alleviate density, instead appeared more congested compared to the lower Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road.

This situation is not without reason. One of the main factors is the limitation of lane access on the MBZ Elevated Toll Road. Unlike the toll road below it, this elevated section has a narrower manoeuvring space.

When disruptions occur, such as a stalled vehicle or accident, the impact is immediately felt significantly on traffic flow.

“There was also a disruption on MBZ; we checked via CCTV for a stalled vehicle,” he said.

This vehicle breakdown disruption became the main trigger for the traffic jam. As a result, when one lane cannot be used, practically only one lane remains for vehicles to pass through.

The situation was further exacerbated by the high volume of vehicles during the peak Eid exodus. The combination of the surge in vehicle numbers and the limited lane capacity made the MBZ Elevated Toll Road a congestion-prone point.

This condition serves as a reminder for Eid travellers to ensure their vehicles are in prime condition before passing through the elevated route.

Previously, Ria stated that the number of vehicles in the Eid exodus passing through the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road reached its highest on 18-19 March 2026. Nevertheless, she declined to detail the figures.

“So far, our projection is as such. We are still monitoring continuously,” Ria said.
