The World Has Changed Completely: China Now Has a Specialised School for Robots

The humanoid robot industry continues to develop year on year. China is among the fastest countries in developing and adopting humanoid robots to support daily activities.

China has even established a “school” to train humanoid robots to perform various tasks traditionally undertaken by humans. In a laboratory in Wuhan, a group of humanoid robots are trained like students in a classroom.

They learn many things, from making coffee to performing household tasks. Engineers gather extensive data through the physical training of humanoid robots, from the way they move to how they complete tasks.

This training process involves humans wearing virtual reality (VR) equipment to guide the movements of the humanoid robots in real-time.

“We wear VR glasses and hold controllers in our hands. Our left and right hands function as the robot’s left and right arms. The robot learns our body posture by mimicking our movements. Data is uploaded to the cloud. Once the data is approved and forms a dataset, it is uploaded to the robot, and the robot learns from it,” said Qu Qiongbin, an AI robot trainer collecting data for the system.

“This is a very interesting process. I feel a sense of accomplishment when I successfully complete a task. It feels the same as teaching your own child and watching them develop,” he added, according to Euronews, Wednesday, 11 March 2026.

Within the facility located in the Wuhan Eastern Lake High-Tech Development Zone, also known as “China’s Silicon Valley,” robots are placed in carefully designed real-world environments. Inside are a living room and factory workshop, where they practise everyday actions.

Human trainers operate the machines daily on a repetitive basis to build large data packages that enable robots to learn new skills gradually.

“We train and teach robots by creating realistic one-on-one scenarios. Trainers can repeat a single action hundreds, thousands, or even tens of thousands of times to teach it, and then use that data to support this training,” said Yang Xinyi, project leader at Data Fusion Technology.

Researchers said the goal of this “robot school” is to accelerate the development of humanoid robots that can operate in real-world environments.

Visitors can already interact with some machines at the 7S Humanoid Robot Store in Wuhan. There, the public can see how robots respond to commands and perform simple tasks.

The development of humanoid robots has once again raised questions about the future of mankind. As tasks that have long required human involvement can be performed by robots, concerns about redundancies and unemployment grow ever stronger.
