The Tavern

The Tavern

In reference to the article in The Jakarta Post on Jan. 2, 1996 that The Tavern, Aryaduta Hotel, was charging Rp 139,000 per person cover charge without permission, we would like to clarify and correct the report.

In fact, Aryaduta Hotel had obtained all licenses and permit papers required for New Year Eve events. This was checked and approved by Mr. Dadang Sedarlaksana, Mr. Mangasi Manurung, and Mr. Tedjo Wibowo who was assigned by Mr. Toha Argagunita of Dispenda on the night of Dec. 31, 1995. They issued a document of the total tax amount in triplicate which was to be paid to DKI one week after New Year Eve at the latest.

Mr. Jatmiko, Assistant to Mr. Toha Reno of the City Public Order Office, on Jan. 4, 1996, clarified that Aryaduta Hotel had complied with all laws and regulations. No fines will be issued and the Tavern will not be closed.

Therefore, it is not true that Aryaduta was charging anything without permission as stated by Mr. Toha Reno of the City Public Order Office.
