Vehicles that were previously illegally parked on Jalan Damai, RT 02/01, Kalisari Ward, Pasar Rebo Subdistrict, East Jakarta, have now been removed by their owners. This enforcement occurred following an artificial intelligence (AI)-based upload in response to a report on the Jakarta Kini (JAKI) app, which drew public attention.

“The vehicles that were parked haphazardly have been moved by their owners before officers took enforcement action,” said the Head of the Transport Implementation Unit (Kasatpel) for Pasar Rebo Subdistrict, Basuki, when contacted in Jakarta on Tuesday (7/4).

According to Basuki, four cars that had been parked along the road were no longer present when officers arrived at the location.

“The plan was to tow the four illegally parked cars. However, when we got to the site, the cars were gone, and the area was already clear,” he said.

Two vehicles were moved to a nearby workshop, while the other two were taken directly by their owners. He also reminded residents not to park vehicles on the roadway again, especially since Jalan Damai is narrow, about five to six metres wide.

This condition is considered prone to causing traffic disruptions and disturbing nearby residents’ activities.

“We remind the public not to park on the roadway as it can disrupt other road users,” said Basuki.

He also encouraged active community involvement in reporting illegal parking violations to the local Transport Implementation Unit for prompt follow-up.

As a preventive measure, ward officials are urged to install no-parking signs at vulnerable spots. Environmental improvements are also deemed necessary, such as placing flower pots along the roadside to narrow spaces for illegal parking.

“This collaborative effort between the government and the community is expected to create order and comfort in residential areas, particularly in addressing the frequent complaints about illegal parking,” said Basuki.

Previously, the illegal parking in the area went viral following a resident’s complaint via the JAKI app.

In the attached complaint photo, a row of cars was seen freely parked on the roadside, along with an officer in an orange uniform standing at the location.

However, oddities appeared in the follow-up evidence photo on the JAKI app. Although the row of cars seemed to have disappeared, the camera angle was completely unchanged.

Additionally, there were unnatural details on the officer’s uniform in that photo.

This series of anomalies sparked suspicions that the relevant parties had manipulated the resolution of the issue using an AI-generated photo.

As follow-up, the involved PPSU officer has been given administrative sanctions by the ward office.

“The officer in question has been issued an SP1 by the Kalisari Ward Head, as PPSU is under the ward head’s responsibility, and the individual has made a statement not to repeat the action,” said East Jakarta Mayor Munjirin in Jakarta on Monday (6/4).

This sanction serves as a firm government response to the incident that had captured public attention.
