The Mystery Surrounding Activist Ermanto Usman's Death
Bekasi – The death of labour activist Ermanto Usman (65) at his residence in Perumahan Prima Lingkar Asri, Jatibening, Pondok Gede, Bekasi City, leaves a number of questions. His wife, Pasmilawati (60), was found in a critical condition in the incident that occurred on Monday early hours, 2 March 2026. Several oddities at the scene have led the family to doubt the robbery theory. His sister Dinda Nada Alifah was asleep in the upstairs room at the time of the incident.
“Yesterday, the police said the upstairs area was sterilised. My sister locks the door every night,” said Putra on Tuesday, 3 March 2026.
If the incident is linked to a robbery, typically the perpetrator would search for valuable items throughout the house. However, the fact that the second floor was untouched narrows the motive to financial gain alone.
Another oddity lies in the condition of the items inside the house. The family documents remained in their places. The safe was intact and undamaged.
Putra also questioned the missing car keys, noting that the vehicle was not driven away.
“The important items that my family and I know were not taken by the perpetrator. Even if the car key was taken, what is the use if the car isn’t taken?” he asked.
In many burglary cases, safes and vehicles are the main targets. However, at Ermanto’s home, it was the victim’s mobile phone that disappeared.
