The Indonesian Police’s Traffic Corps has campaign for road safety during Eid homecoming through a song titled ‘Mudik Tertib Ojo Kesusu’. The song is used as a socialisation medium to ensure mudik travellers do not hurry on the road and continue to comply with traffic regulations during the journey.

Head of the Indonesian National Police Traffic Corps, Inspector General Agus Suryonugroho, stated that the campaign aims to remind mudik travellers that journey safety should be a top priority. The appeal applies not only at the departure for mudik, but also when returning from their hometown.

This outreach effort comes amid projections of increased traffic during this year’s mudik season. The movement of vehicles leaving Jakarta during Eid 2026 is expected to reach around 3.5 million units.

Several residents consider the campaign approach through song to be easier for the public to remember. Wina, 35, a Kalibata resident in South Jakarta who plans to mudik to Solo by car, believes the safety message in the song is quite relevant for travellers.

‘In the song there is a lyric urging the public that safety during the journey is the top priority,’ said Wina.

Similar views were expressed by Brendy, 30, a private sector worker who plans to mudik to Surabaya with his family. He believes the safety message conveyed through the song is easy to remember.

‘What I remember most is the lyric “Ojo Kesusu”. So for me this message is very strong: you must be patient and focused on safety for the mudik travellers.’

Windi, 27, a resident of Taman Sari, West Jakarta, also believes that campaigning through song can help people remember road safety messages. He notes that many drivers often hurry during mudik journeys, which typically involve long distances.

‘Road safety socialisation for mudik through song is very apt. With a song, people easily remember the police’s appeal.’

Meanwhile, Udin, 35, a resident of Pinang Ranti, East Jakarta, says the campaign could serve as a reminder for drivers to prioritise safety during the mudik journey.

‘The song energises me for the mudik and meeting family. The song is easy to listen to. Additionally, the lyrics urge people to prioritise safety, respect other drivers, and not to rush when driving,’ said Udin.
