The Meaning Behind Renaming KA Argo Bromo Anggrek to KA Anggrek: KAI Brings Elegance

PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) has officially renamed KA Argo Bromo Anggrek to KA Anggrek. Starting from 9 May 2026, the name KA Anggrek will be officially used in KAI’s long-distance train services (KAJJ). ‘It is not merely a name change, but also a manifestation of our commitment to continuously providing the best service in every journey. With its flagship route connecting important cities, KA Anggrek is ready to accompany more comfortable, safe, and memorable journeys,’ explained the official Instagram account @kai121_ on Tuesday (5/5/2026). ‘The orchid does not wait for perfect soil to grow. It finds its own way to survive. Rooting without taking over. Close without damaging. Soft, but not fragile. Calm, but not weak,’ KAI stated. ‘That is where the meaning of the orchid takes shape. A name that brings elegance, strength, and trust in every journey,’ it added. Meanwhile, KAI announced that every passenger holding a ticket for KA Argo Bromo Anggrek departing on 9 May 2026 can still use it for KA Anggrek according to the schedule and selected service class. KAI deliberately used the ‘Argo’ name so that the public could recognise Indonesia’s mountains. However, some trains do not use the ‘Argo’ name even though they are actually mountain names. For example, KA Malabar and KA Krakatau, the reason being that ‘Argo’ is only used for executive-class trains. Because it is an executive train, the carriages are made elegant and comfortable with the use of air springs to absorb shocks. As a result, vibrations can be dampened, and passengers experience minimal strong jolts inside the carriage. The transformation of KA Argo Bromo Anggrek to KA Anggrek is not just a name change, but more than an improvement in service quality from PT KAI.
