The KDMP Building's Floor Area That Cost Rp1.6 Billion
The government is carrying out large-scale construction of the Desa Merah Putih Village Cooperative (KDMP). Not a minor effort, the target is to reach 80,000 KDMP units across Indonesia, effectively one village one cooperative. KDMP itself is a strategic initiative of President Prabowo Subianto to strengthen the people’s economy and achieve food self-sufficiency at the village level.
Each KDMP is designed as an aggregator that manages food kiosks, savings and loan services, a pharmacy, logistics, clinics, and warehousing. However, although the funding comes from Himbara bank loans repaid by deductions from village funds, the construction is being carried out by state-owned enterprise PT Agrinas Pangan Nusantara (Persero) together with the Indonesian Army (TNI AD).
Agrinas previously announced that each KDMP outlet and warehouse for Kopder Merah Putih would cost around Rp1.658 billion. In other words, the building cost of a KDMP is Rp2.938 million per square metre.
“Roughly the design or layout prepared for the Desa Merah Putih Village Cooperative, the building spans 20 by 30 metres,” said Joao Angelo De Sousa Mota, CEO of Agrinas, during a Public Hearing with Commission VI of the Indonesian House of Representatives, quoted on Tuesday (19 May 2026).
From the total KDMP building area, they allocate 6 by 17 metres for the cooperative shop. Inside the shop, there is a 3.5 by 10 metre room for the village clinic. In addition, there is a dedicated fertiliser warehouse of 4 by 6 metres. That room sits outside the warehouse for basic daily necessities.
“We designed it this way and, in our view, the price we designed is very rational,” Joao said.
For the design and area of the building, the Ministry of Public Works (PU) has established a prototype design (purwarupa) for the KDMP building under Ministerial Decree No. 1342/KPTS/M/2025 of 2025.
Based on the prototype concept developed by the government, KDMP buildings are not built to a single uniform size across all regions. The KDMP building is designed as a village economic service centre containing various functions within a single complex.
Facilities include a shop area, a storage warehouse, administration rooms, public service areas, and supporting logistics facilities.
