The Dedication of Police Officer Aipda Raja Faisal in Border Regions
In an interview conducted in mid-February 2026, Aipda Raja Faisal Mushawir repeatedly stated that Tarempa is both his birthplace and the location where he dedicates himself as a member of the Indonesian National Police, as well as where he devotes his time as a volunteer humanitarian worker.
Aipda Raja Faisal is not only recognised by residents of his hometown for his dependability in humanitarian matters, but his dedication as a funeral hearse driver, a role he has undertaken since 2017, has gained him widespread public sympathy.
Born in Tarempa, Anambas Islands District, Riau Islands Province, in July 1986, this officer has served as a member of the Bhayangkara Corps for 21 years. For him, work as a police officer is a profession, whilst driving a funeral hearse represents a calling of the heart.
Raja Faisal, as he is commonly known, bears a name from the Riau and Riau Islands Malay community, indicating his strong emotional connection and dedication to his homeland without seeking reward.
According to him, the geographical location and extent of Siantan and Tarempa sub-district’s area, which is not overly expansive, does not strain his ability to balance his duties as a police officer and as a funeral hearse driver.
Whenever residents request assistance in transporting the deceased from hospitals to homes, from homes to cemeteries, or from homes to hospitals, Raja Faisal is always ready to serve. He does not only assist families with identified deceased; he also provides services for unidentified bodies, including those from non-Muslim community members.
He established this commitment from the moment he first felt called to transport the deceased in 2017.
“Being a police officer is a profession; being a volunteer funeral hearse driver is a calling of the heart,” Raja Faisal said.
