The chief ain't bulletproof

CIREBON, West Java (JP): A village chief bragged to police over the weekend that he was bulletproof and his claim was immediately tested.

An officer shot him. The Tugu Lor village chief, Suhandi, is now recovering from bullet wounds to the hand and foot.

The incident happened at his home on Saturday when police officers were tracking down youths seeking refuge there after they tried to attack neighboring Sudimampir village, Indramayu.

Irritated by the uninvited police officers, Suhandi yelled that he was bulletproof.

The police pursued scores of Tugu Lor villagers from house to house after stopping their attack on Sudimampir.

A Tugu Lor villager shot and wounded a police officer with a homemade gun before police fired tear gas and began making arrests, Antara reported. (pan)
