Jakarta – Construction of the Jakarta–Cikampek (Japek) II Southern toll road segment between Setu and Sukaragam is demonstrating significant progress, though various challenges have emerged.

By mid-February 2026, construction work on Package 2A, spanning 10.50 kilometres, had reached 81.65 per cent completion.

The toll road section, undertaken by PT Hutama Karya Infrastruktur (HKI) in operational cooperation with WIKA–PP–KMK–HKI, forms an important part of the Japek II Southern network connecting the Jatiasih Interchange (SS) on the Jakarta Outer Ring Road (JORR) E1 with the Sadang Interchange on the Purbaleunyi toll road.

Aditya Novendra Jaya, Director of Operations III at HKI, stated that the toll road is expected to alleviate congestion on the existing Jakarta-Cikampek toll whilst serving as a primary alternative route for travel from Jakarta to West Java.

In this project, HKI manages various primary operations including earthwork, concrete structures, bore piles, and the installation of PCI girders and steel box girders.

The construction process is supported by the application of Building Information Modelling (BIM) technology to enhance design accuracy and work volume efficiency. Additionally, barcode-based Augmented Reality (AR) is used to assist visualisation and quality control at the site.

One key technical challenge in the Setu–Sukaragam segment is the girder erection work at the active Cimanggis–Cibitung toll road crossing. This work must be conducted within strict time windows to ensure the safety of toll road users already utilising the facility.

A launcher method is employed to guarantee that the girder installation process remains safe without disrupting traffic flow. Work execution is also carried out by ensuring alignment of work methods and equipment capacity, as well as strengthening coordination with toll operators, the Department of Transportation, and the National Police.

In line with sustainable development commitments, the project applies green construction principles. Tree planting is being conducted around the work site to support environmental sustainability along the toll corridor.

With continuously improving construction progress and cross-sector coordination support, the Japek II Southern toll road Package 2A project is targeted for completion in September 2026 in accordance with the contract schedule.

The section is expected to enhance connectivity on the southern Jakarta–West Java corridor, facilitate public mobility, and support logistics distribution and economic growth in the regions it traverses.
