The government has conveyed its thanks to fathers and mothers who are teachers, as well as to educators, who have dedicated themselves and devoted their knowledge to enlightening the life of the nation. Jakarta (ANTARA) - Minister of Basic and Secondary Education (Mendikdasmen) Abdul Mu’ti has expressed thanks to teachers throughout Indonesia for their dedication and service in educating the nation’s generations, while also serving as the foundation for national educational progress. “The government conveys its thanks to fathers and mothers who are teachers, as well as to educators, who have dedicated themselves and devoted their knowledge to enlightening the life of the nation,” said Mendikdasmen Abdul Mu’ti in a written statement in Jakarta on Sunday. In his address, he emphasised that National Education Day (Hardiknas) is a moment for reflection, reaffirmation, and revitalisation of the national education spirit. “Essentially, education is a process carried out sincerely, full of love and affection, to humanise humans. Education is a process of discovering and developing one’s innate nature, natural disposition as humans, or potential as noble beings of God. The core of the education process is to ennoble,” said Mendikdasmen Abdul Mu’ti. Therefore, the Minister stated that this principle is an important foundation in building educational practices that are not only oriented towards academic achievements but also towards character formation and humanity. The meaning of Hardiknas is also felt directly by education practitioners in the field, one of whom is Agus Harianto, a teacher at SMP Negeri 1 Banyuwangi. He interprets this moment as a reminder to continue prioritising the quality of education, especially amid the rapid development of technology. Agus stated that his school encourages coding-based learning so that students are not only users of technology but also able to create and utilise it productively. “For the world of education, the hope going forward is for more and more innovations so that educators and the nation’s children are enthusiastic in pursuing education. Spirit to all fellow teachers, as educators we share knowledge with our children,” he said. Meanwhile, Muhammad Ravi Adiatma Nur Dafiq, a student at MAN 1 Banyuwangi, interprets Hardiknas as an expression of thanks for the struggles of education figures and teachers who continue to build education in Indonesia. “My hope is that access to education in Indonesia can be equitable up to the remotest areas, so that all children can experience equal education,” he said.
