Textile export quotas set

JAKARTA (JP): The government has issued the distribution of
Indonesia's 1995 quota for textile exports to the United States
among exporters.

"The new quota, which applies to this year, was determined
after a recent decision by the U.S. administration on imports of
textiles and textile products from Indonesia," Radumalem
Sembiring, a spokesman of the Ministry of Trade, stated
yesterday.

The U.S. administration agreed to increase the import quota
of Indonesian textiles and textile products by nine percent for
1994-95.

This means that the quota for Indonesia's exports of textiles
and textile products to the United States will raise to 542.5
million square meters in 1994-95 from 497 million square meter in
1993-94.

Sembiring said all exporters who have any objection to the new
quota distribution should contact the Ministry of Trade no later
than 60 days after this announcement was made.

Indonesia exported about US$1.2 billion worth of textiles and
textile products to the United States in 1993. (hdj)
