PT PG Rajawali II’s Tersana Baru Sugar Mill in Cirebon Regency, West Java, targets sugar production of 271,500 tonnes by the 2026 crushing season through production process optimisation and operational efficiency improvements.

General Manager Sigit Ermunanto said the company aims to process approximately 3.4 million quintals of sugarcane during this season. He added that this target is accompanied by efforts to maintain production quality, with a projected extractable sugar rate (rendemen) of 7.45%.

“We aim to achieve the 7.45 rendemen target through collaboration from all parties involved in this year’s crushing season,” he said.

He explained that the 2026 crushing operations are targeted to run for 130 days optimally without technical disruptions affecting production. Therefore, the mill is taking preventive measures to ensure machinery and production facilities operate at maximum capacity throughout the season.

Sigit acknowledged challenges in this year’s planting season, particularly farmer financing issues affecting field-level sugarcane productivity. However, he noted that smooth crushing operations can help maintain rendemen levels, ensuring sugar production targets are met.

“We hope the crushing process proceeds smoothly to meet the rendemen target and support this year’s sugar production,” he added.

He also mentioned that preparations for the 2026 crushing season include the traditional “selamatan giling” ceremony, an annual event at Tersana Baru Sugar Mill. The tradition symbolises the start of the sugar production cycle and reflects optimism for the current season.

Meanwhile, the mill is modernising machinery and revitalising production facilities to enhance the competitiveness of the national sugar industry. Sigit said technological upgrades are being implemented incrementally, despite the mill having operated since 1937.

Meanwhile, Haji Mulyadi, Chairman of the Tersana Baru APTRI Regional Chapter, said sugarcane farmers remain optimistic about this season’s crushing despite cultivation challenges. “We hope to achieve the best rendemen and sugar distribution to ensure optimal farming returns,” he said.
