Tenure of Bali Regional Parliament's TRAP Special Committee Extended by Six Months
The Bali Regional Parliament (DPRD) has extended the tenure of the Special Committee on Spatial Planning, Assets and Licensing (Pansus TRAP) for six months. The decision was made during a closed leadership meeting of the Bali DPRD chaired by DPRD Chair Dewa Made Mahayadnya, known as Dewa Jack, at the DPRD Bali office on Monday, 2 March 2026.
“The outcome of today’s leadership meeting decided three matters: first, the TRAP special committee is being extended. Secondly, its membership is being refreshed, adopting proposals from the four factions in the Bali DPRD. Thirdly, its budget has already been set in the 2026 main budget,” said Dewa Jack.
“In accordance with parliamentary procedures, it is being extended for six months, every six months,” he added.
Dewa Jack believed that the Pansus TRAP required extension as it aligned with the legislative duty to oversee and protect Bali’s natural assets relating to licensing and spatial planning.
“The preservation of spatial planning in Bali, as agreed, is to be monitored by an institution with the proper duties, principal functions and authority, such as the Bali DPRD,” Dewa Jack explained.
The PDI Perjuangan politician noted that all factions would subsequently submit the names of council members proposed to join the special committee.
“It was decided today that names will be submitted, whether existing or new members—we can call this a refreshing of the membership,” he said.
The Pansus TRAP continues to be chaired by I Made Suparta. Dewa Jack stated that Suparta’s selection was based on PDI Perjuangan holding the largest number of parliamentary seats.
