Tensions Escalate as Indonesia Begins Gradual Evacuation of Indonesian Nationals from Iran
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - The Government of Indonesia has officially begun a gradual evacuation of Indonesian nationals in Iran in response to the latest developments in regional security. The decision was conveyed by the Indonesian Embassy in Tehran (KBRI Tehran) via an official announcement addressed to all Indonesians in Iran. ‘The Government of Indonesia has decided to organise a gradual evacuation for Indonesian nationals in Iran,’ read the KBRI Tehran announcement dated 4 March 2026. The embassy has asked all Indonesians to immediately contact and coordinate with the local Indonesian mission to obtain technical information related to the schedule, mechanism, and assembly points for the evacuation. All processes will be coordinated intensively through the official WNI communications group in Iran. Although the evacuation is being prepared, the KBRI Tehran emphasised that operations and consular services will continue normally to ensure maximum protection for Indonesians in its accreditation territory. ‘The KBRI Tehran will continue to operate normally to provide consular services and protection for all Indonesians,’ the statement added. In its announcement, the KBRI also urged Indonesians to stay calm, be vigilant, monitor official directions, and keep communication among fellow Indonesians to ensure the evacuation proceeds smoothly. This evacuation move forms part of the Indonesian government’s commitment to ensuring the safety and protection of its citizens abroad amid rising regional tensions.
