The Temanggung District Social Services office (Dinsos) in Central Java will shortly distribute social assistance food packages (bansos sembako) for the January-March 2026 period. The food aid will be distributed to a total of 63,721 Recipient Families (KPM).

According to Umi Lestari Nurjanah, Head of Temanggung Social Services, the list of food assistance recipients has been verified and double-checked prior to distribution. “Each KPM will receive food assistance worth IDR 200,000 per month. Therefore, the total assistance received by each family over the three-month period reaches IDR 600,000,” she told reporters on Friday.

The food assistance distribution is conducted with proper targeting and in accordance with applicable regulations to ensure that the benefits are genuinely felt by those in need. She stated that food assistance aims to help meet the basic needs of the community whilst providing social security guarantees for low-income residents.

The food assistance distribution is being carried out as cash transfers through Bank Himbara. “The assistance distribution is carried out in cash through Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI). The amount may seem modest, but for poor families this assistance is very meaningful, especially when facing needs in the lead-up to Eid,” she said.

At the national level, Minister of Social Affairs Saifullah Yusuf (Gus Ipul) stated that the process of distributing regular social assistance in the first quarter of 2026 is continuing. The Minister announced that his office would evaluate the accounts of social assistance recipients who have been proven to use funds for online gambling. Member of Commission VIII of the Indonesian House of Representatives Selly Andriany Gantina revealed that many assistance recipients still face difficulties withdrawing funds due to administrative errors.

Meanwhile, the Jakarta Provincial Government stated it will not conduct punitive operations against new Jakarta migrants but will restrict the distribution of social assistance. Suharyo noted that his office frequently encounters negative impacts of social assistance on community empowerment efforts, particularly in Eastern Indonesia.
