Temanggung — The Temanggung District Health Authority (Dinkes) in Central Java has conducted health examinations for public transport drivers ahead of the Lebaran 2026 exodus to ensure passenger safety during the holiday period.

Intan Pandanwangi, head of the Temanggung District Health Authority, stated on Tuesday that the health checks are taking place at Temanggung Bus Terminal.

“The examinations include blood pressure checks, laboratory tests such as cholesterol screening, HIV testing, malaria screening, and drug testing by the National Narcotics Agency,” she said.

According to her, the examinations are intended to determine whether drivers are fit to operate vehicles, as passenger safety depends heavily on the condition of drivers.

She reported that preliminary examination results revealed several drivers with elevated blood pressure and high cholesterol levels. Meanwhile, drug screening conducted in the morning has not identified any drivers testing positive for narcotics.

For drivers found to have health problems, health personnel will provide immediate treatment. “For those found with health complaints, we will provide temporary treatment and then refer them to a primary healthcare facility for further treatment,” she explained.

Drivers deemed unfit to drive—such as those with elevated blood pressure—are being advised to rest first for the sake of passenger safety.

Toifur, secretary of the Temanggung District Transportation Authority, said his office is also conducting inspections of public transport vehicles, particularly buses serving routes to Jakarta.

“We are inspecting vehicles, especially buses heading to Jakarta,” he said.

He noted that vehicles inspected to date have complete documentation and documentation in order, with vehicles in good condition overall.

“The vehicles we inspected today have complete documents and paperwork, and are in good condition,” he said.

According to him, vehicle inspections are conducted to guarantee the safety of vehicles operating on roads, particularly ahead of Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijri.

“This activity is carried out regularly before the holiday to ensure that operating vehicles are truly in good condition so as to guarantee passenger safety,” he said.
