TelkomGroup Dispatches Thousands of Mudik Travellers to Celebrate Eid in Hometowns
PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk has relaunched its Free Mudik Programme Together with TelkomGroup 2026, dispatching 1,924 travellers from Jakarta to various destinations across Java and Sumatra. The programme forms part of the “Safe and Shared Hope Mudik” initiative under the joint State-Owned Enterprise (BUMN) and Danantara campaign for comfortable homecoming journeys.
A ceremonial send-off took place at Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) in Jakarta on Tuesday, 17 March. The event was attended by Coordinator Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, BUMN Regulatory Board Chief and Danantara Operations Director Dony Oskaria, Danantara Managing Director for Stakeholder Management Rohan Hafas, BUMN Regulatory Board Deputy Chief Tedi Bharata, and senior executives from state-owned enterprises.
Coordinator Minister Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono noted that the high mobility of citizens during the Eid period demonstrates the strength of Indonesia’s mudik tradition. According to the Ministry of Transportation survey, this year is projected to see approximately 143.9 million mudik journeys across Indonesia. “The government continues to ensure infrastructure readiness and various transport modes so that public travel can proceed safely, comfortably and smoothly,” he said.
“We also appreciate the initiative of the BUMN Regulatory Board, Danantara, and participating state-owned enterprises in conducting this free mudik programme, which helps reduce private vehicle usage, particularly motorcycles, thereby supporting more orderly homecoming travel for the public,” he added.
Simultaneously, TelkomGroup launched its mudik dispatch at Satria Mandala Museum in Jakarta. This year, TelkomGroup has prepared 27 eco-friendly bus fleets comprising 15 Telkomsel buses, 10 Telkomsel Poin buses, and 2 Telkom Solution-Indibiz buses, plus 3 vessels to transport travellers to various destinations. These include Tasikmalaya, Magelang, Sleman, Yogyakarta, Wonosari, Semarang, Ponorogo, Surabaya, and Malang on Java, as well as Lampung and Palembang on Sumatra.
All journeys are coordinated to prioritise passenger comfort and safety. The use of eco-friendly bus fleets in this programme represents TelkomGroup’s commitment to promoting more efficient, lower-emission travel, aligned with the company’s sustainability principles. Through this initiative, TelkomGroup hopes the mudik programme provides not only social benefits to participants but also positive environmental impact.
Telkom Chief Executive Officer Dian Siswarini noted that the Eid momentum is invariably accompanied by increased citizen mobility and communication activity. “TelkomGroup ensures network and service readiness so that the public can remain connected smoothly amid rising mobility and digital demands. We have increased network capacity, deployed mobile base stations at several mudik route points, and established standby posts supported by over 13,700 personnel across Indonesia,” she said.
“Through this BUMN Mudik Together programme, TelkomGroup wishes to contribute to providing safe and comfortable homecoming travel and ensure mudik travellers reach their hometowns safely and celebrate Eid joyfully,” she added.
This year’s Free Mudik Programme includes participants comprising customers, micro and small enterprise operators, partners, and general public who registered through TelkomGroup’s official mudik programme website. Participants receive free transport using specially prepared fleets, along with various travel support including goodie bags with basic travel necessities, merchandise, and pocket money.
To ensure quality telecommunications services remain optimal during the Eid holiday period, TelkomGroup has also prepared telecommunications and digital infrastructure readiness. Various measures have been implemented, from strengthening network capacity to reach 60.7 Tbps, intensive traffic monitoring, to preparing 22 integrated TelkomGroup Emergency Standby Posts (RAFI) supported by over 13,700 personnel operating 24/7 across all Indonesian regions.
These efforts ensure digital connectivity services remain reliable amid increased mobility, allowing the public to stay connected. Beyond transport provision and telecommunications strengthening, TelkomGroup has also distributed Corporate Social Responsibility assistance from the Telkomsel Poin programme. Previously, Telkom distributed aid through its Telkom Berbagi national programme comprising device and internet connectivity support for 50 Islamic schools, schools and pesantrens, plus allowances for 1,000 orphans, 1,000 underprivileged community members and persons with disabilities, totalling Rp2 billion in value.
Dian stated that various TelkomGroup efforts, from network readiness, free mudik programme delivery to aid distribution, are hoped to strengthen the role of state-owned enterprises, particularly TelkomGroup, in providing maximum benefit through its best services for customers and the entire public. “On behalf of TelkomGroup’s Board of Executive and extended family, I wish you Happy Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijrah. I seek your forgiveness in word and deed. May all endeavours and hard work undertaken become pathways to goodness and bring blessings for us all,” she concluded.
