Bandung (ANTARA) – Telkom University has pledged to continue providing intensive support to the victim through senior residents, to ensure the safety of everyone involved in the case.

The university’s Vice-Rector III, Prof. Dr Ratri Wahyuningtyas, said in Bandung, West Java, on Sunday that the support was intended to safeguard all parties involved and ensure the victim was protected while the case was being handled.

“But we are trying to ensure that everyone, particularly the victims, is doing well. We are providing protection and support, including counselling, to safeguard their physical and mental health,” she said.

In addition to support in the dormitory, the university is also providing counselling to help maintain the victim’s physical and mental wellbeing after the alleged bullying came to light.

She said the decision to house the parties separately was part of the university’s efforts to protect the victim and others involved in handling the case.

“We have secured and are supporting the victim. Both the alleged perpetrators and the victim have been placed in different areas of the dormitory, with support from senior residents,” Ratri said at a press conference.

Ratri explained that the case involved new students who began interacting during the New Student Campus Life Orientation (PKKMB) and later became dormitory-mates.

According to her, the victim and the alleged perpetrators had not been close before joining Telkom University.

She also said the university leadership would provide information about the alleged perpetrators and the protection and safety of the victim as soon as possible.
