Telkom University (Tel-U) through Bandung Techno Park hosted a business matching event titled “Building Cross-Border Innovation Ecosystem Hong Kong–Indonesia Partnership in Technology” with Cyberport Hong Kong at Tel-U Campus in Bandung on Tuesday, 10 March.

Iwan Tritoasmoro, Director of Bandung Techno Park, stated that the event implemented a strategic cooperation agreement between Telkom University and Cyberport Hong Kong signed in 2025. “This forum aims to bring together innovation ecosystems from Indonesia and Hong Kong through interaction between global technology companies, academics, and leading research centres within Tel-U,” Iwan said.

According to him, 12 technology companies from the Cyberport delegation attended with various Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) based solutions. These technologies were applied across various sectors, including smart cities, digital infrastructure, cybersecurity, enterprise solutions, and health technology.

The companies interacted directly with Tel-U’s Centres of Excellence (CoE) and innovation startups to explore opportunities for technology collaboration and applied research. Dennis Tedja, Hong Kong Cyberport Ambassador for Indonesia and CEO of Opus Solutions Limited Hong Kong, said his team facilitated connections between the Cyberport Hong Kong innovation ecosystem and various partners in Indonesia. “Through this role, we connect Cyberport’s innovation ecosystem with academic institutions, innovation centres, and technology startups in Indonesia that have potential for collaboration in developing digital solutions and future technologies,” he said.

The series of activities included company pitching sessions, business matching, and roundtable discussions designed to encourage concrete collaboration between academia and industry. “This forum opens opportunities for cooperation such as joint research, Proof of Concept (PoC) development, pilot project implementation, and potential commercialisation of technologies relevant to industry needs,” Dennis said.

Besides discussions and collaboration exploration, the delegation also visited Bandung Techno Park facilities. Participants were introduced to Tel-U’s innovation ecosystem, including innovation collaboration spaces, co-working spaces for startups and technology tenants, makerspaces, and the Telkom University Innovation Gallery (TUIG).

The roundtable discussion sessions generated several Letters of Intent (LoI) between Research Institutes, Centres of Excellence of Higher Education Institutions (PUI-PT), and Tel-U Centres of Excellence with technology companies from the Cyberport delegation. Several identified collaboration opportunities include cooperation between the Research Institute Connectivity and Convergence for Smart Living (RI CCSL) with WildFaces, the Centre of Excellence Advanced Intelligent Communications (AICOMS) with Ambit Geospatial and Alpha AI Technology, the Centre of Excellence Artificial Intelligence for Learning & Optimisation (AILO) with Ambit Geospatial and Bitlliant, and the Centre of Excellence Smart Electric Vehicle (Smart EV) with oneCHARGE.

These collaborations are expected to be followed up through PoC development, joint research, and implementation of technologies relevant to industry needs in Indonesia and the global market. Telkom University reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening the role of higher education as a bridge between the academic world and industry in producing innovations with tangible impact.
