SEC deadline
JAKARTA: PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia, the nation's biggest
telephone company, met the deadline to file its 2004 accounts to
the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on Thursday.
The company, known as Telkom, earlier said it may fail to meet
the July 15 deadline as it needed more time to answer the U.S.
regulator's queries on past financial reports.
Telkom submitted the 2004 report last month based on
Indonesian standards to the commission. It must submit the so-
called 20-F report to the U.S. regulator because its American
depositary receipts trade on the New York Stock Exchange.
KPMG International audited the report.
Telkom posted a 6 percent higher net income in the 2004 report
it submitted to the U.S. regulator. The company had net income of
Rp 6.13 trillion (US$$625.5 million) on Rp 33.9 trillion of sales
in 2004, according to its report prepared based on Indonesian
standards. -- Bloomberg

Sony Ericsson posts
lower earnings
STOCKHOLM: Mobile telephone maker Sony Ericsson posted lower net
income for second quarter 2005 on Friday, although turnover
increased.
The joint venture between Japan's Sony and Sweden's Ericsson
said net income for the quarter was 75 million euro (US$90
million) for the quarter compared to 89 million euro for the
corresponding period in 2004.
The company reported a turnover of 1.61 billion euro, a 4-per-
cent increase on the corresponding quarter in 2004.
Sony Ericsson said it sold 11.88 million handsets during the
quarter, a 14 percent increase on the 10.4 million units sold
during the second quarter 2004.
"The global handset market grew faster than expected during
the quarter, primarily because of increased demand in the lower
price segments in both mature and emerging markets," the company
said. -- DPA
