I am surprised to learn that the members of the House of
Representatives (DPR) want to stop the airing of telenovela films
on the private television stations. In fact, we like to watch the
films -- most of them from Mandarin and Latin America, which
contain morality, romance, and humor, with fairly good acting of
the film stars. Moreover, the dialogs are dubbed into Bahasa
Indonesia, a language we know best. It is only a simple thing.
Why are we not allowed to enjoy such a simple thing? We don't
understand Mandarin or other foreign languages.

Why don't we stop import of foreign fruits? And leave
telenovela films alone. Aren't our own fruits good enough to eat?
We should think of making attractive film dramas which are
competitive against foreign films?

Give us the chance to enjoy just a simple thing like
telenovela films!
