The 41st Trade Expo Indonesia (TEI), which will be held from 14-18 October 2026, is targeted to generate transactions of US$17.5 billion, or approximately IDR 293.30 trillion (exchange rate of IDR 16,759).

Trade Minister Budi Santoso said this target is higher than last year’s target of US$16.5 billion. However, the actual result exceeded expectations, reaching US$22.8 billion, or approximately IDR 382.65 trillion.

“This is a good opportunity for us because our market is getting better, and more trade agreements are starting to open up,” said Budi at the launch of the 41st TEI in Jakarta, Thursday, February 26, 2026.

He expressed optimism that this year’s target can be achieved, even though international trade conditions are still challenging. This is supported by the positive trend of Indonesian exports, which grew by 6.15 percent in 2025.

“So we are optimistic that transactions will run well, and of course, we hope that our exports will increase even more next year,” he said.

Budi explained that the implementation of TEI is carried out through three stages that complement each other. Since the initial registration stage, exhibitors are immediately facilitated through business matching with prospective buyers from abroad.

According to him, this process involves trade attachés and Indonesian representatives in 33 countries, so that transaction opportunities can be prepared more thoroughly before the exhibition takes place.

He added that the second stage takes place on the day of the event, namely 14-18 October, where transactions are expected to occur directly between exhibitors and international buyers who attend.

This momentum, he said, is an important forum for business actors to expand their network and introduce Indonesia’s superior products to the global market.

Meanwhile, the third stage is carried out after the exhibition. Budi said that the government, together with trade representatives, will monitor the transactions that have taken place, ensuring that there are no technical obstacles that can disrupt the smooth flow of trade.

According to Budi, this step is important so that the results obtained from TEI are truly sustainable and have a real impact on national exports. (Ant)
