A street brawl in Serang, Banten has left two teenagers injured, with one losing three fingers after being struck by a bladed weapon while attempting to flee the scene.

The incident occurred on Kampung Panayagan Road, Bandung Subdistrict, Serang Regency, in the early hours of Sunday (22 February 2025) at approximately 1.30am local time. The two groups had arranged to meet for a brawl.

“Initially they had agreed to a sarong fight, but it turned out the other group brought bladed weapons,” said Serang Police Criminal Investigation Unit Chief Andi Kurniady ES on Monday (23 February).

According to Andi, victim AL (15), who was riding a motorcycle with two other passengers, immediately attempted to flee the scene. The attackers then set upon the victims.

“As a result of the attack, AL sustained injuries that severed three of his fingers after being slashed with a bladed weapon, while AD (14) suffered a gash wound to his back,” he said.

Serang Police Chief AKBP Andri Kurniawan said officers received a report through the 110 emergency service regarding the incident. Police subsequently arrested four suspects.

“In approximately just eight hours, we successfully apprehended all four suspects at their respective homes,” Andri said.

The four suspects are identified by the initials RW (19) and DB (18), residents of Cikesal Subdistrict, as well as PN (15) and MA (17), residents of Bandung Subdistrict, Serang Regency. They have been detained at Serang Police Headquarters.

“After we apprehended MA, further investigation led to the arrest of PN, followed by RW and DB. All of them are now in custody for further legal proceedings,” he explained.

Police also seized evidence including machetes and sarong cloths used to wrap the bladed weapons. Andri affirmed that the force would take firm action against brawl perpetrators.

“We will not give any quarter to criminal offenders. I also urge parents to increase their supervision of their children, to prevent them from becoming either perpetrators or victims of criminal acts,” he said.
