Recently, a distinctive trend has emerged amongst technology executives based in Silicon Valley, located in California, United States. They are choosing to relocate away from Silicon Valley and move to Miami.

One recent report on this trend concerns Google founder Sergey Brin, who is reported to have recently purchased a luxury beachfront residence in the Miami area. The luxury property is valued at 51 million US dollars, or approximately 860 billion Indonesian rupiah.

Although Brin’s name does not directly appear on the land certificate, transaction documents reveal traces pointing to him.

According to reporting from Times of India, the address and legal representative of the property buyer are closely affiliated with the technology billionaire.

Based on recorded property documents, ownership of the residence was transferred from MB 1 LLC, owned by Michael Burke. The buyer is Lagoon LLC, a company registered in Reno, Nevada.

The Lagoon LLC address in Reno appears to be identical to the office of a law firm managed by attorney Michaelle Rafferty. Rafferty’s name has regularly appeared in various real estate transaction documents involving Sergey Brin in the past.

Constructed in 2019, the luxury home spans approximately 930 square metres. Its facilities are remarkably premium, including a poolside pavilion, terrace with marble flooring, luxury swimming pool, and hot tub.

If this purchase is officially confirmed, Brin will extend the list of major technology executives undertaking an exodus and purchasing high-value properties in the Miami area.

Similarly, Meta CEO (parent company of Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp) Mark Zuckerberg has spent approximately 170 million US dollars (around 2.9 trillion Indonesian rupiah) on a property on Indian Creek Island.

Indian Creek Island is widely known by the nickname “Billionaire Bunker”. This private island is guarded by an extremely tight security system, contains only approximately 40 homes, and has its own police force.

The location of Brin’s new home on Allison Island is only approximately 1.5 kilometres from this “bunker”.

The coordinated relocation of Silicon Valley executives to the east coast of the United States is not without reason. The primary factor driving this trend is the extraordinarily high tax burden in California.

For context, California, which is home to the majority of technology giants, has long been known to have one of the highest state income tax rates in the United States.
