JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Member of the House of Representatives’ Commission I from the PDI Perjuangan faction, TB Hasanuddin, considers the acid attack case against KontraS activist Andrie Yunus as an opportunity to push for revisions to military justice regulations in the TNI Law.

According to the senior PDI-P politician, as long as military justice regulations have not been revised, all cases involving TNI soldiers, whether related to military or civilian criminal acts, must still be processed through military courts.

“Like it or not, whether we like it or not, the military justice system has not been changed or revised yet. Although the TNI Law has been revised, the mandate to amend the military justice law has not been implemented,” Hasanuddin said when met at the PDI-P Party School in South Jakarta on Saturday (18/4/2026).

Therefore, Hasanuddin believes there needs to be a change in regulations so that general criminal cases committed by TNI soldiers can be tried in general courts.

Meanwhile, for cases related to military duties and functions, according to Hasanuddin, they can still be handled in military courts.

“In the future, in my opinion, based on much experience and many things, it would be best to ratify or revise the TNI Law, particularly regarding military justice. So that TNI soldiers who commit civilian criminal acts should be tried in civilian courts,” he said.

“For military matters, yes, in military courts,” he added.

“But what now? Well, as long as the law has not been changed, we must adhere to the principle of following military courts,” Hasanuddin explained.

Hasanuddin also hopes that the trial process in the case involving Andrie Yunus can be conducted openly so that the public can monitor the proceedings.

“I personally hope that the court, even though it is a military court, is opened transparently and clearly. So that society can provide the best contribution to achieve justice in the best possible way,” he said.

It is known that the case file for the acid attack on Andrie Yunus involving four TNI soldiers has been handed over to the Military Court II-08 Jakarta on Thursday (16/4/2026).

The Military Prosecutor II-07 Jakarta charged the suspects with multiple articles, including Article 469 paragraph (1) in conjunction with Article 20 letter c of Law Number 1 of 2023, with a maximum penalty of 12 years’ imprisonment as the primary charge.

In addition, there are subsidiary charges under Article 48 paragraph (1) in conjunction with Article 20 letter c with a maximum of eight years’ imprisonment, as well as Article 467 paragraph (1) in conjunction with paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 20 letter c with a maximum of seven years’ imprisonment.

Head of Military Prosecutor II-07 Jakarta, Colonel Corps of Law (Chk) Andri Wijaya, stated that the case file has met the requirements for handover to the court.
