Tax Office Waives Late SPT Filing Penalties Until 30 April, Awaiting 5 Million Taxpayers!
The Directorate General of Taxes of the Ministry of Finance is providing leniency for individual taxpayers who are late in reporting their annual tax notification letter (SPT) for the 2025 period. This policy takes the form of a waiver of administrative sanctions until 30 April 2026.
Director General of Taxes Bimo Wijayanto explained that the decision was made after considering the current SPT reporting achievements and consultations with the Minister of Finance.
“So the decision from the Minister after we consulted with evidence of the SPT revenue performance data, it was decided that we will extend until 30 April for both reporting and payment,” said Bimo when met at the Ministry of Finance office on Friday (27/3/2026).
With this additional time, Bimo hopes to encourage the level of compliance in individual tax reporting. As is known, based on DJP data, the number of taxpayers who have reported their annual SPT reaches 9,131,427. This consists of employee individual taxpayers of 8,196,513 and non-employee 924,443.
“So the SPT, God willing, we will extend until 30 April for individuals only. So we expect, if previously it was already 9, almost 9.1 million. There are still around 5 million that we are waiting for from individuals,” said Bimo when met at the Ministry of Finance office on Friday (27/3/2026).
On the other hand, Bimo explained that this leniency could cause a shift in state revenue. He estimated that around Rp 5 trillion in tax revenue will shift to April 2026 due to this policy.
“Yes, perhaps around Rp 5 trillion that will shift to April. We have also reported it to the Minister. Perhaps today we will launch the policy related to the SPT extension,” he said.
