The Directorate General of Taxes (DJP) of the Ministry of Finance is confident that the deadline for filing annual income tax returns (SPT) can be met by 31 March. Director General of Taxes Bimo Wijayanto revealed that as of early March, the number of SPT filings had reached 6 million taxpayers. The current daily average of SPT filings is between 200,000 and 250,000 taxpayers, short of the target the director general estimated at around 350,000 per day.

The remaining effective period for filing SPT is only about 10–13 days. By the deadline, he is confident the figure will rise to 8.5 million taxpayers. “That means 10 days multiplied by 250,000 equals about 2.5 million. 2.5 million from 6 million now means 8.5 million (SPT),” Bimo said during a media briefing at the DJP office in Jakarta on Thursday, 5 March 2026.

To reach this target, the DJP will not rely solely on voluntary compliance. Bimo said his staff will also take proactive steps by opening tax service offices on Saturdays and Sundays. “We are not only waiting for taxpayers to submit voluntarily. We will go to them as well. We are opening service offices on Saturdays and Sundays too,” he stated.

The DJP is also helping taxpayers file more easily on the Coretax system. It introduced additional channels within the Coretax ecosystem, namely Coretax Form and Coretax Mobile (M-Pajak), to expand access to tax services.

Coretax Form is an additional channel that can be used to file the annual PPh tax return for individual taxpayers with nihil status. With this feature, taxpayers can download electronic forms from the Coretax system, fill them offline, and then re-upload the forms to the system. This facility is designed to assist taxpayers who prefer traditional forms or who have limited Internet access. It has been available since 25 February 2026 and can be used by individual taxpayers meeting certain criteria, such as income from employment or business activities, filing a nihil status, and not using the Norma Penghitungan Penghasilan Neto.

In the near future, the DJP will launch the Coretax Mobile (M-Pajak) application. This app will help taxpayers activate their Coretax accounts and register an Authorization Code or Electronic Certificate via mobile devices.

“We have launched Coretax Form, and we will soon launch Coretax Mobile,” said Bimo. He added that Coretax Mobile will focus on services related to reporting and system activation, thereby reducing the burden on the tax administration’s Coretax services.

“Therefore, with the additional channels for reporting and activation, we hope to ease the system load and the service burden,” Bimo concluded.
