JAKARTA - The Advocacy Team for Democracy (TAUD) has confirmed that Andrie Yunus, Deputy Coordinator of the Commission for Missing Persons and Victims of Violence (KontraS), will not attend the second hearing in the acid attack case at the Jakarta Military Court on Wednesday (6/5/2026). TAUD member Airlangga Julio stated that Andrie is still recovering from his health condition during the hearing. “Yes, Andrie will not be able to attend the hearing on Wednesday, 6 May, at the Jakarta Military Court, because he is still under observation, monitoring, and requires several medical procedures,” Julio said during a press conference at the YLBHI office in Jakarta on Monday (4/5/2026). Nevertheless, he acknowledged that TAUD had received oral information from the Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK) regarding the summons for Andrie to the second hearing on 6 May 2026. However, according to Julio, they have never seen the summons letter in physical form. “And just now we tried to confirm with KontraS, and from KontraS, they said Andrie has also not received the physical summons letter for 6 May,” he explained. Therefore, Julio assessed that formally, Andrie Yunus has not received an official summons from the Military Court, either under military criminal procedure law or civil criminal procedure law. Previously, the first hearing in the acid attack case against Andrie Yunus was held on Wednesday, 29 April 2026. The agenda of the first hearing was the reading of the indictment against four Indonesian National Army (TNI) personnel accused of throwing acid at KontraS Deputy Coordinator Andrie Yunus in Salemba, Central Jakarta, on Thursday (12/3/2026). They were annoyed with Andrie Yunus for giving instructions at the Fairmont Jakarta hotel on 16 March 2025. “The defendants considered that Mr Andrie Yunus had insulted the TNI institution and even trampled on the TNI institution,” said Military Prosecutor Lieutenant Colonel Corps of Law (Chk) TNI Muhammad Iswadi during the hearing at the Jakarta Military Court II-08 on Wednesday (29/4/2026). The four defendants are charged with multiple articles, namely Article 469 paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code as the primary charge, Article 468 paragraph (1) as subsidiary, and Articles 467 paragraphs (1) and (2) as further subsidiary, in conjunction with Article 20 letter c of Law Number 1 of 2023. In that hearing, Judge Fredy Ferdian Isnartanto requested the Jakarta Military Prosecutor’s Office II-07 to present Andrie Yunus as a victim witness. This is because the victim’s name was not listed as a witness in the indictment letter.
