The Tasikmalaya Regency Government has expressed its readiness to implement a work-from-home (WFH) policy for civil servants (ASN). This step forms part of the central government’s strategic plan to reduce fuel oil (BBM) consumption amid global energy challenges.

Tasikmalaya Regent Cecep Nurul Yakin affirmed that his administration will follow the instructions of President Prabowo Subianto, particularly in taking anticipatory measures to address the global geopolitical situation impacting national energy resilience.

According to Cecep, the planned scheme involves four days of office work and one day of working from home per week. He assessed that this adjustment to work patterns is highly feasible at the local level. “The one-day-per-week WFH policy can be implemented as an adjustment to work patterns for ASN in the regions. In principle, we are ready to follow the central government’s policy,” he stated on Wednesday (25/3/2026).

While fully supporting the reduction in physical mobility for ASN, Cecep offered a critical note that this policy must not sacrifice the quality of services to the public. The presence of ASN, whether physical or online, must continue to provide maximum service.

To ensure this, the Tasikmalaya Regency Government is committed to strengthening the digitalisation of public services across all regional apparatus.

“The most important thing is that services continue to run. WFH must not slow down services. We must maintain that together because the online system is already available,” he added.

Cecep explained that this technological adaptation is not new for the Tasikmalaya Regency Government. The use of technology in internal activities, such as virtual coordination meetings, has proven to increase operational efficiency in governance.

With this strengthening of the digital system, it is hoped that the national target of reducing BBM consumption can be achieved without diminishing bureaucratic productivity in Tasikmalaya Regency.
