The Tasikmalaya City Government in West Java must explore various potential sources of revenue, particularly tourism destinations and micro, small and medium enterprises (UMKM), to increase local government revenue (PAD). This is because funds transferred to regions (TKD) have decreased by Rp219 billion from the central government and Rp86 billion from the West Java Provincial Government.

Apep Yosa Firmansyah, Head of the Regional Development Planning, Research and Development Agency for Tasikmalaya City, stated that transfer funds to regions (TKD) in 2026 have been reduced by Rp219 billion. Meanwhile, Rp86 billion from the West Java Provincial Government will not be transferred. The total budget reduction reaches Rp305 billion.

The reduced budget will impact development across ten districts, which must be recalculated.

“Typically, Tasikmalaya City’s APBD stands at Rp1.7 trillion, but in 2026 it has shrunk to approximately Rp1.4 trillion, representing a reduction of Rp305 billion. This budget decrease is not a small figure, as Tasikmalaya City Government must drive equitable development across ten districts,” he said on Friday (27 February).

According to him, the reduction in TKD funds does not halt development in the middle. Development continues, but its pace is slower.

“When the 2026 APBD was approved, regional finances were in a deficit of Rp50.78 billion. Efficiency measures have been implemented, including holding meetings without snacks and providing only water,” he stressed.

For now, Tasikmalaya City Government must endeavour to uncover PAD sources. Additionally, development must be more selective, and spending must be more prudent, so that various programmes can continue to operate.

The city government is implementing austerity measures to address the deficit, including eliminating meeting refreshments and relying on water only, while seeking alternative revenue streams to maintain essential services and development activities across the municipality.
