Tasik ready for NU parlay
BANDUNG: The host organizers of the upcoming congress of Nahdlatul Ulama, Indonesia's largest Moslem organization, says they are ready to accommodate the participants and observers to the big gathering.
The Cipasung Moslem boarding school in Tasikmalaya, where the congress will be held, said it is anticipating 5,000 people, including 3,500 delegates.
The congress is expected to be opened by President Soeharto, according to the Antara news agency.
"We're 85 percent complete with building the necessary infrastructures and facilities," said the school's administrator, Ruchiyat Ilyas. He said these include the construction of roads, meeting halls, plus providing telecommunications, electricity and water.
The provincial West Java government and the local public have also contributed to the funds needed to stage the meeting.
Cipasung is located in the Singaparna District which is approximately 15 km from Tasikmalaya. (emb)
