Jakarta – Residents of Jalan Ancol Barat I, RW 1, Pademangan, North Jakarta, have complained that tap water has not flowed for the past week, forcing residents to transport water gallons daily, particularly during Ramadan.

Rosidah (35) said she has had to carry approximately 10 gallons of water per day from a distribution point to her home, located about 100 metres away.

“I’m exhausted from carrying water constantly. About 10 gallons a day, travelling roughly 100 metres from here to my house. Even the small children have had to fetch water. It’s been raining, and we’re fasting – this is really difficult,” she said when met by Kompas.com on Monday (3 February 2026).

“It’s been a week now. The water has completely stopped, there’s nothing at all. It just suddenly went out,” she added.

Similar complaints were raised by Isma, another RW 1 resident. He noted that before the total outage, the water had an unpleasant odour and the flow was weak.

“First the water smelled bad, then it gradually stopped. The flow would be weak, then it would come on, then stop again,” he said when met by Kompas.com on Monday.

According to him, approximately five RT are affected by the disruption. Clean water assistance via water tanker truck has been provided at the request of the local RW chairman. However, the water tanker’s arrivals are unpredictable.

“It only comes once in the afternoon. It’s not regular, arrivals are completely unreliable. It depends on when they send it from there,” said Isma.

“The problem is usually caused by road construction and repair work,” he noted.

Isma hopes the water supply will soon return to normal and that such outages will not happen frequently, particularly during Ramadan when residents are fasting.

“We’re tired, and it’s Ramadan. Having to carry water around is exhausting,” added Isma.

Kompas.com contacted Senior Manager Corporate and Customer Communication for PAM Jaya, Gatra Vaganza, regarding this issue, but has not yet received a response.
