Tangerang, Banten – The Tangerang City Transportation Department is ensuring that all mudik vehicles departing through Poris Plawad Terminal in Tangerang undergo operational feasibility inspection or ramp check, as well as health screening for drivers and conductors.

“For those who do not meet these requirements, they will not be authorised to carry passengers and strict action will be taken if drug abuse is found,” said Maulana Arimatiar Damanik, Head of Transport at the Tangerang City Transportation Department, in Tangerang, Banten, on Tuesday.

He stated that the ramp check focuses on vehicle administrative verification and technical operational feasibility, including lighting, braking systems, tyres, cargo dimensions, and other aspects.

The ramp check operation is being conducted by Tangerang City Government together with joint officers from the Banten Regional Transport Management Agency (BPTD) and Tangerang City Metro Police, targeting dozens of intercity interstate buses (AKAP) at Poris Plawad Terminal.

Tangerang City Government and joint officers are targeting the ramp check operation to inspect 30–50 vehicles daily from 16 to 18 March 2026.

“There are dozens of buses at Poris Plawad Terminal that will be inspected daily to ensure all buses operating during this year’s mudik season are roadworthy,” he said.

Poris Plawad Terminal Head Alwin Suthena added that all drivers and conductors must undergo health screening at the health service post that has been established to ensure drivers are in good health.

“We urge all bus drivers operating during the mudik season to maintain their health, including paying attention to the condition of their respective vehicles, so they can deliver passengers to their destination safely, securely, and comfortably,” he said.

He stated that the number of passengers at peak mudik is estimated to reach 2,000 per day.

This figure represents a sharp increase compared to normal days, which recorded only 700 passengers, with transport numbering 100–150 AKAP buses daily.

Furthermore, Alwin noted, the number could increase due to public holidays, joint leave, and work-from-anywhere (WFA) flexibility at various companies extending the holiday calendar and triggering increased mudik numbers, particularly among those using land transport through Poris Terminal.
