Tangerang Transportation Department deploys tow trucks to manage vehicle breakdowns on toll roads
The Head of the Tangerang City Transportation Department (Dishub), Achmad Suhaely, announced on Monday that tow trucks have been stationed at the Rest Area Service Post at KM 13.5 Pinang as a precautionary measure to secure safe passage during the 2026 Eid exodus.
“This represents a commitment by the Tangerang City Government to ensure the smooth operation of Operasi Ketupat Jaya and the 2026 holiday transport operations to secure the Eid travel flow,” he stated.
In addition to tow trucks, other emergency response vehicles including ambulances and fire trucks have been placed on standby. Members of the public requiring emergency services may contact 112.
The department has also established health posts and provided free medications for travellers who feel fatigued or become ill during their journey. All service posts prepared are designed to support unimpeded travel during the exodus.
“Our hope is that travel this year proceeds smoothly. We appeal to travellers not to overexert themselves. If you feel tired, please rest at the nearest rest area we have provided. Our concept is comfortable travellers, happy families,” Suhaely said.
Metro Tangerang City Police Chief Kombes Pol Raden Muhammad Jauhari added that traffic flow on the Jakarta-Tangerang toll road remains normal at present. To date, no vehicle congestion has been observed at rest areas or long queues at petrol stations.
The peak of the Eid exodus is predicted to occur on 18-19 March 2026, two days before Eid al-Fitr. However, he emphasised that all supporting facilities are ready to handle the surge in travellers.
“Alhamdulillah, the situation remains orderly at present. We have coordinated with petrol station operators to ensure ample and normal fuel stocks. Petrol stations are also providing free iftar meals for travellers refuelling their vehicles,” he said.
