Tangerang, Kompas.com - PT Marga Mandasakti (Perseroan) or Astra Infra Toll Road Tangerang-Merak is preparing the Tangerang-Merak Toll Road for the Lebaran mudik in 2026. Head of Corporate Communications & Sustainability Management at ASTRA Infra Toll Road Tangerang-Merak, Uswatun Hasanah, said preparations cover road infrastructure, facilities, and traffic management including field personnel. ‘The readiness includes road infrastructure, facilities, and traffic management, including personnel,’ she told the Merapah Kompas.com team when met at the Cikupa Toll Gate, Tangerang, on Saturday 7 March 2026. ‘So if there is a surge in volume, transactions can be processed more quickly, thereby minimising queues at the toll gates,’ she added. In addition, the expected heavy rainfall remains a concern in road infrastructure preparations. Accordingly, Astra Infra Toll Road Tangerang-Merak is increasing toll road cleaning staff, patching teams, and drainage personnel. In terms of traffic management, Astra Infra is coordinating with the Police through a Joint Decree (SKB) on traffic arrangements during the Lebaran mudik and balik periods. Astra Infra Toll Road Tangerang-Merak will also implement a delaying system on the Tangerang-Merak Toll Road. This is an anticipatory measure to alleviate potential congestion on the toll road and access to Merak Port, especially during the Lebaran mudik. ‘This is usually implemented progressively according to police discretion which is situational, should queues form,’ Uswatun said. She explained that the delaying system will begin at Rest Area KM 68A, Rest Area KM 43A, and then GT Cikupa. ‘There will be a Police post there that will separate trucks or goods bound for Ciwandan Port, BBJ, and Ciwandan, from passenger vehicles destined for Merak Port,’ she continued. Uswatun said that around 154,000 vehicles are expected to traverse the Tangerang-Merak Toll Road per day during the Lebaran mudik, lower than normal due to vehicle restrictions during the period. Meanwhile, the Average Daily Traffic (LHR) on the Tangerang-Merak Toll Road is 155,000 vehicles. ‘It will be slightly down at about 0.2 percent, but higher than Lebaran traffic in the previous year,’ Uswatun said.
