Tanah Datar Regent Releases 75 Village Heads to Attend Retreat at IPDN West Sumatra
The Regent of Tanah Datar has officially released 75 Wali Nagari to attend a retreat programme held from 5 to 10 April 2026 at the Institut Pemerintahan Dalam Negeri (IPDN) campus in West Sumatra. The release ceremony took place during an assembly on Sunday (5/4). Regent Eka expressed appreciation to all participants attending the event. According to the organising committee’s report, out of the 75 registered participants, 73 are confirmed to depart, while the other two are unable to attend due to illness. The Regent explained that this retreat is a strategic programme carried out in line with directives from President Prabowo Subianto, which has previously been attended by various levels of government, from ministers, governors and deputy governors, regents and deputy regents, mayors and deputy mayors, to other officials. “Now it is our turn in Tanah Datar Regency to hold the retreat for Wali Nagari as an effort to improve the capacity and quality of governance at the nagari level,” he stated. The Regent noted that the retreat was originally scheduled for 2025 but was postponed due to the galodo disaster that struck the Tanah Datar region. He also mentioned that during the retreat, the Wali Nagari will receive various important materials from several institutions, such as the Prosecutor’s Office, Police, Indonesian Army (TNI AD), Ministry of Home Affairs, and the Tanah Datar Regency Government. These materials are expected to serve as provisions in carrying out their duties, particularly in nagari governance and budget utilisation. “Many central government programmes directly interact with the nagari. Through this retreat, Wali Nagari can convey various field-level obstacles that will later become evaluation materials and be reported to the Minister of Home Affairs,” he explained. Regent Eka emphasised that the event is directly monitored by the Ministry of Home Affairs, so all participants are urged to attend with discipline and full responsibility. On that occasion, the Regent also expressed thanks to IPDN for facilitating the event, including participant pick-up and support from IPDN supervisors and cadets. Appreciation was also given to various parties who supported the implementation of the event. Furthermore, Regent Eka Putra advised all participants to uphold the good name of Tanah Datar Regency during the retreat. According to him, good attitudes and behaviour will reflect the quality of leadership in the region. “Wali Nagari represent the region. Maintain ethics, discipline, and demonstrate the best attitude while in the IPDN environment,” he stressed. In addition, he instructed relevant Regional Device Organisations (OPD), particularly the Department of Community and Village Empowerment (PMD), to continue coordinating with the organisers to ensure the event runs smoothly and conducively. At the end of his speech, the Regent hoped that all participants would be granted health and be able to follow the entire series of activities well.
