Tamhut West Jakarta Tackles 460 Problematic Trees in February 2026
West Jakarta’s Sub-Department of Landscaping and City Forest (Tamhut) has attended to 460 problematic trees across eight districts during February 2026. ‘Thus, throughout February 2026 we handled 460 trees spread across eight districts,’ said Dirja Kusuma, head of Tamhut West Jakarta, when contacted in Jakarta on Wednesday. The handling involved pruning, cutting back overgrown trees, and the evacuation of fallen or leaning trees. In breakdown, light pruning accounted for 195 trees, moderate pruning 175 and heavy pruning 72 trees. ‘Meanwhile, eight trees were felled, three were removed due to leaning, and seven toppled,’ he said. In addition to city-level teams, they also have Sub-Branch Units (Satpel) with their Task Force (the Green Troops) in each district on standby if there are trees that must be promptly attended to or evacuated. Residents can report problematic trees—such as those interrupting electrical networks or at risk of toppling—through the Community Quick Response system (CRM), accessible via the JAKI app. The first step is to download and open the JAKI app. Then tap the camera icon at the bottom of the home screen. Next, choose whether to report privately or publicly. Then take a photo of the issue to be reported, select a category and fill in the details including precise location. Finally, press send. Sudin Tamhut officers will receive the report and it will be addressed accordingly.
