BOGOR, KOMPAS.com - The presence of street vendors (PKL) selling takjil along Jalan Pakuan in Bogor City has sparked complaints from several residents who say it contributes to congestion ahead of iftar.

Although it livens Ramadhan and helps people find iftar meals, some buyers hope the Bogor City Government (Pemkot Bogor) will regulate the trading activities in the area so as not to disrupt traffic flow or pedestrians.

One takjil buyer, Dhafie, believes the stalls along the roadside need better organization. He says the stalls lining the edge of the road make it difficult for motorists to pass.

“Meaning, isn’t it possible to be organized better so it doesn’t disrupt those who are active?” Dhafie said when met on Thursday (5 March 2026). “People want to go home to break their fast, at home and so on, so it’s late,” he added.

Another buyer, Nasution, says PKL activities on Jalan Pakuan often trigger traffic congestion around the area.

In line with Dhafie, Nasution hopes Pemkot Bogor can organise the area so that trading can continue without hindering road users.

“Honestly, it’s a bit unsettling because it causes traffic, it doesn’t mean depriving people of their livelihood. But it should be managed a bit,” he said.

He added that regulation is needed so stalls do not block the roadway or the pedestrian path. He admits he is often stuck in traffic, delaying his return home to break his fast.

“Just traffic, so it’s late to break fast at home. How can you fast if you are stuck in traffic?” he asked.

One vendor known as Oweng (55) says he realises selling on the roadside and blocking the pedestrian route is not ideal.

“Yes, we are along the roadside too, and we are part of the problem,” Oweng said on Thursday (5 March 2026).

Nevertheless, he hopes Pemkot Bogor can regulate so that trading can proceed more orderly.

Another vendor known as Cemen (40) also says regulation is needed along Jalan Pakuan.

“To avoid it getting too congested or chaotic,” he said along Jalan Pakuan.

Cemen says there is currently no relocation site for vendors in the area. He hopes the government will step in to regulate PKL.

“Yes, we have to. To avoid congestion. Every Ramadan it’s congested here,” he added.
