Taiwan's Smart Medical Innovations Take Centre Stage in Geneva
Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has released an official promotional video titled ‘Taiwan Cares Beyond Borders’ and a teaser for the ‘Taiwan Smart Medical & HealthTech Expo’ to rally international support ahead of the 79th World Health Assembly (WHA). The step aims to showcase Taiwan’s smart health services and to champion meaningful participation in the World Health Organization (WHO). The three-minute video was launched at a joint press conference by Taiwan’s Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung and Health and Welfare Minister Shih Chung-liang on 11 May 2026. The video highlights Taiwan’s ability to integrate artificial intelligence (AI), semiconductors, and information technology to advance public health solutions for an ageing population. ‘Taiwan has long invested in public health and medical technology, and thus possesses the capacity to contribute to global health governance,’ stated the MOFA release via the Department of International Information Service. This year the campaign carries the main slogan ‘Chip in with Taiwan’ and a WHO-supportive motto ‘TAIWAN Cares!’. The campaign visuals show the island of Taiwan formed from a circuit of chip components, symbolising the vital role of Taiwanese technology in the global health ecosystem.
