Taiwanese Battery Swapping Industry Leader Drives New Era in Urban Mobility at Asia Sustainability Week
Taipei, (ANTARA/PRNewswire) - Gogoro, a global technology company leading the development of battery swapping ecosystems for sustainable mobility solutions in urban areas, attended the invitation to the 5th Asia Sustainability Week organised by The Economist in Bangkok on 26 March. Gogoro CEO, Henry Chiang, delivered a presentation titled “The Mobility Transformation Asia Needs” on Gogoro’s innovative battery swapping technology and electric scooters that have transformed urban mobility. He emphasised that the battery swapping system effectively overcomes infrastructure barriers in electrifying two-wheeled vehicles in dense Asian cities, while offering practical and proven solutions for sustainable urban transformation.
As an industry leader in Taiwan for 11 years, Gogoro has built the world’s largest and most comprehensive battery swapping energy network. With an extensive network consisting of 1.4 million smart batteries and more than 2,700 GoStations across Taiwan, Gogoro currently serves over 650,000 scooter owners through around 370,000 battery swaps every day. This large-scale infrastructure management with high efficiency not only transforms daily mobility but also acts as an economic catalyst, driving the development of a US$122 billion electric vehicle industry.
“Gogoro wants to build cleaner, smarter, and safer cities through technological innovation,” said Henry Chiang, CEO of Gogoro. “Currently, the impact of climate challenges is not only related to the transportation sector, but also the air we breathe and the cities we pass on. By introducing innovative battery swapping solutions, we address the constraints in electrifying two-wheeled vehicles in Asia, and help users ‘recharge’ their batteries in seconds, anytime and anywhere. The success achieved in Taiwan is now transforming various cities across Asia, and even the world.”
Gogoro continues to expand its open ecosystem by partnering with industry leaders to accelerate sustainability transformation. Gogoro established the PBGN (Powered by Gogoro Network) alliance, which helps leading motorcycle manufacturers—including Yamaha—develop electric vehicles, while leading the scooter industry transformation in Taiwan.
Gogoro is now proving the global scalability of its business model by exporting the success achieved in Taiwan to major international markets. In South Korea, Gogoro is expanding its business reach through a partnership with Bikebank, focusing on high-frequency delivery fleets. In Vietnam, through a strategic joint venture with Castrol, Gogoro plans to launch a pilot programme with major commercial platform partners in the second quarter of this year. This momentum will continue in the fourth quarter with the launch of new vehicles designed specifically for the Vietnamese market. These achievements affirm the flexibility of Gogoro’s solutions in meeting the needs of various markets, while strengthening its role in building future lives in global cities.
