The Swiss Ambassador to Indonesia, Olivier Zehnder, conveyed complaints to Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa regarding the confusion faced by investors from his country on how to enter and invest their capital in Indonesia. Despite the current existence of the Indonesia-European Union Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IEU-CEPA), challenges persist.

He stated that as a country, Switzerland engages in extensive trade with various nations. However, the private sector in the Alpine nation has traditionally relied more on foreign investments rather than direct trade. Even in Indonesia alone, he noted that more than 150 Swiss companies are interested in increasing their investments.

“I represent the private sector—where is the entry point? Where should we report these issues? Because many of our companies have come expressing interest in substantial investments. Where do we need to go?” Zehnder asked Purbaya during the International Seminar on Debottlenecking Channel at the Ministry of Finance office on Tuesday (12/5/2026).

In response, Purbaya explained that the government now has a Debottlenecking Task Force handling various business obstacles in Indonesia. All complaints or barriers to business can be reported online to the Task Force via the prepared website, namely (https://lapor.satgasp2sp.go.id/).

“Of course, the complaints must be concrete so that we can contact the reporter and discuss the issues they face further. In this way, through such discussions, we can provide better feedback,” Purbaya replied.

Furthermore, Purbaya emphasised that if there are still difficulties or obstacles in investing, he can directly intervene in the problems by pushing for resolutions in relevant ministries or institutions.

“If the implementation is slow, let me know. I will push everyone to work hard. I am now in a stronger position compared to my previous role. Because now I have budgetary power,” Purbaya stated.

In this regard, he even admitted to not hesitating to cut the budgets of ministries or agencies proven to hinder investments or business in Indonesia.

“All ministries, all ministers who slow down the problems we face, I can reduce their budgets,” Purbaya remarked.
