Suspected Fake Documents Lead to Seizure of Truck Carrying 25 Cattle at Gilimanuk Port
Quarantine officers intercepted a truck carrying 25 head of cattle at Gilimanuk Port in Jembrana Regency, Bali. The truck was forced to turn back to the quarantine pen because the animal transport documents it carried were suspected to be fake.
The Head of the Gilimanuk Working Area Quarantine, I Putu Agus Kusuma Atmaja, confirmed that his officers followed and chased the truck with licence plate DK 8835 BQ to Gilimanuk Port. The pursuit was conducted amid high traffic of cattle shipments out of the area to meet sacrificial demands ahead of Eid al-Adha.
“It is true, earlier we had suspicions about that cattle truck until we chased it to the port. After inspection, we found that the quarantine documents carried were not in accordance with or suspected to be fake,” Agus stated when confirmed by detikBali on Thursday (7/5/2026).
To date, the quarantine side is still investigating the owner of the dozens of cattle intended to be sent outside Bali. To the officers, the truck driver claimed that the dozens of cattle came from breeders in Karangasem.
“There are about 25 head of cattle in the truck. The owner of the cattle is not yet clear to avoid misnaming. But the origin, according to the driver, is from Karangasem,” said Agus.
“The truck carried a quarantine certificate but it was fake or the certificate was not issued by the Gilimanuk Quarantine, so we detained and rejected it from departing,” he added.
Agus emphasised that the truck and the dozens of cattle are still at the Gilimanuk Working Area Quarantine pen for further processing. He wants to ensure that every livestock sent out of the Island of the Gods meets administrative and health requirements.
According to him, this step is taken to guarantee the security of sacrificial animal distribution ahead of Eid al-Adha. Agus urged all livestock entrepreneurs to follow official procedures and not attempt to use illegal documents because supervision at the port exit points will continue to be tightened.
