Surge in Passengers at Gilimanuk Port, ASDP Deploys 35 Additional Vessels
PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero) has implemented flow management schemes to address congestion at Gilimanuk Port in Bali during the Eid exodus. ASDP has deployed the Arrival-Unload-Departure (AUD) scheme.
“The Arrival-Unload-Departure scheme remains applied at berths MB1, MB4, and LCM, allowing vessels that arrive to immediately process cargo unloading and promptly resume sailing without conducting vehicle loading operations,” said ASDP Chief Executive Director Heru Widodo on Tuesday, 17 March 2026.
ASDP is also operating under an intensified operational pattern by deploying 35 additional vessels on the Ketapang-Gilimanuk route. Heru stated that various operational acceleration measures continue to be implemented in the field to maintain smooth vehicle flow to the port.
“We continue to implement various operational acceleration measures together with stakeholders, ranging from traffic management on queuing lanes to optimising ferry services, so that vehicle flow remains moving and queues can be rapidly cleared,” he said.
Meanwhile, data from the Eid Transport Command Centre recorded significant increases in ferry crossings from Bali to Java on the sixth day before Eid. Total passenger numbers reached 80,416 people, representing a 33.8 per cent increase compared to the same period last year, which recorded 60,099 people.
Two-wheeled vehicles totalled 18,306 units, a 52.7 per cent increase compared to 11,987 units the previous year. Four-wheeled vehicles reached 5,044 units, a 9.2 per cent increase from 4,620 units last year.
Buses totalled 945 units, up 39 per cent from 680 units the previous year, whilst lorries numbered 1,590 units, down 13.4 per cent compared to 1,835 units during the same period last year.
Overall, total vehicles crossing from Bali to Java on the sixth day before Eid reached 25,885 units, a 35.4 per cent increase compared to 19,122 units during the same period in 2025.
Arief Eko, ASDP General Manager at the Ketapang Branch, emphasised that the company continues to increase service capacity and accelerate ferry processes to rapidly clear vehicle queues.
“ASDP is committed to optimising vessel and berth operations to absorb vehicle flow maximally. We also urge service users to follow instructions from personnel in the field for the sake of collective smooth operations,” said Arief.
